Heinrich Steiner

Heinrich “Heiri” Steiner (1906 to 1983) was a graphic designer and photographer from Zurich. From 1924 to 1927 he studied graphic design at the School of Applied Arts (Kunstgewerbeschule) in Zurich under Ernst Keller, and then in Berlin under O.H.W. Hadank. From 1930 to 1935 he taught graphic design at the Zurich School of Applied Arts and took Hans Finsler’s photography courses. From 1930 he ran his own studio; for a few years he ran it together with Ernst A. Heiniger. In 1937 he designed part of the Swiss pavilion at the Paris World Exposition and in 1940 he started working as a graphic designer for the Zurich Schauspielhaus.
